Planning a private dinner, a cooking class or a tasting in Italy from abroad raises a few practical questions. Here are the answers to the ones we hear most often. If yours is not here, write to us: we reply personally, in English.
Booking
How do I book?
Write to us through the contact form or by email, telling us your dates, where you are staying, how many guests and what you have in mind. We reply personally, in English, and send you a tailored proposal.
How far in advance should I book?
As early as you can, especially for high season (April to October), holidays and weddings. For a dinner or a cooking class, a couple of weeks’ notice is usually enough, but we do our best with shorter notice too.
Do you require a deposit?
Yes. A deposit is requested to confirm the booking, and the balance is settled after the experience. Details are in your proposal.
Can I book from abroad, before I arrive in Italy?
Of course. Most of our guests book from home, weeks before their trip. Everything is arranged by email, in English, and we confirm every detail before you leave.
Do you work with travel agents, villa agencies and concierges?
Yes. Agencies, property managers, planners and concierges can contact us directly to arrange dinners, classes and tastings for their clients.
Where and Who
Where do the experiences take place?
Where you are staying: your apartment, villa or holiday rental in Rome, or anywhere in Italy, from Tuscany to the Amalfi Coast and Lake Como. Food and wine tours and wine trips take place out in the city and the countryside.
Is a normal holiday-rental kitchen enough?
Usually yes. A standard kitchen with an oven and a hob is all we need. If you are unsure, send us a few photos and we will tell you.
Are children welcome?
Yes. Families are very welcome at our cooking classes and dinners, and we adapt the menu and the pace to the children in your group.
Can you cater for allergies and dietary requirements?
Yes. Tell us about allergies, intolerances and preferences when you enquire, and we build the menu around them: vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and more.
Is everything in English?
Yes. From the first email to the last course, we work in English with guests from all over the world.
On the Day
What do we need to prepare?
Nothing. We arrive with the ingredients, cook in your kitchen, serve at the table and leave the kitchen in order. For a cooking class, just bring your appetite; we bring everything else.
What should we wear to a cooking class?
Comfortable clothes and closed shoes. We provide aprons.
How long does an experience last?
It depends on the experience: a dinner takes an evening, a cooking class usually a few hours including the meal, a wine tour a half or a full day. We agree the timing with you in advance.
Is tipping expected in Italy?
No. Tipping is not expected in Italy and nothing is added to your proposal for it. If you want to leave something for the team, it is always appreciated, never required.
